Cela m’a amené à séjourner à Beyrouth au Near East School of Theology (NEST) depuis septembre 2026 jusqu’à début janvier 2027.
I am a swiss Reformed pastor and theologian, subsequently re-formed in Berlin during the Cold War, with forty years’ international experience; responsible for aid and development programmes in Eastern Europe following the fall of the Wall; holder of a Master’s degree in public administration; with twenty years’ involvement in ecumenical work and the development of international relations at the umbrella organisation for the Protestant Churches of Switzerland.
Since my retirement in 2023, I have continued to take an active interest in the development of global Christianity and the ecumenical movement. I observe the links and relationships between churches and movements or political authorities in Switzerland and abroad, and how these have evolved over time.
I am involved with the Foundation for Aid to reformed Protestantism (FAP) (www.fapfoundation.ch) and the John Knox International Reformed Centre (www.johnknox.ch), both based in Geneva. The World Council of Churches (www.oikoumene.org) and the World Communion of Reformed Churches (www.wcrc.eu) are therefore indispensable partners in this work. I am also part of one of the teams preparing for the 3rd meeting of the Francophone Christian Forum (FCF), which will take place in Leysin (VD) in 2027.

In addition, I am refreshing my knowledge of the history of early Christianity and conducting research into the conditions for the spread of Christianity during the first centuries, particularly in the East. This led me to spend time in Beirut at the Near East School of Theology (NEST) from September 2026 until early January 2027.
